Students and the staff have the right to feel comfortable and safe at school. In the classroom, students and the staff have the right to do as much work as possible.
At Roxburgh Rise Primary School, we aim to support students to become responsible citizens. To facilitate the development of responsible behaviour, we remind students of their rights and responsibilities. At the beginning of each year personal and collective rights and responsibilities are discussed and displayed, with frequent revision throughout the terms.
We encourage students to help each other to do the right thing. In accordance with the work of Ramon Lewis, teachers are encouraged to respond calmly and assertively while rewarding good behaviour, discuss the impact of misbehaviour on others, and involve students in the decision-making regarding classroom rules and consequences.
